Bright Mars over the ridge. Saturn is upper left.
Early morning for Willow and I. By 4 am it is already getting light. The moon had just disappeared over the ridge yet the stars were washed by dawn. I pointed the camera towards very bright Mars. Earth is passing between Mars and the sun, so is distinctly red and much brighter than it often appears. Time for battle some ancient cultures believed. The birds started up. Willow looked to the trees. I stood still and listened for the water lapping the shore. We looped back along a lower trail. Souls rushed along with us. Mostly friendly, so we had nothing to fear. Willow wanted to go longer and hesitated getting in the truck. Very fine Monday morning.
