The sun shone for the first time in a long time. Lisa and I walked the creek in the afternoon. The birds were out in force, enjoying the light, as happy as we were.

We stopped to watch a beaver. When it saw us it dove under the ice. While waiting for it to resurface a Robin came hopping along the edge of the dam. Willow alerted us.

A Robin, a harbinger of spring, in January! Possibly a loner off course? I looked in the distance and there was an entire flock of them. Stopping in the branches and beside the creek.

I worry for them because winter is a long way from over. Then again what do I know! Nature is a discipline you can study your entire life and never be an expert.

That’s a good subject.
