all day frost
Pulled the last of the carrots and leeks for tonight’s soup. The kale still wore morning frost, but looked no worse for wear so picked 7or 8 leaves. Bought the biggest ham hock I could find to throw in with the last of the vegetables. If you make soup you need something with bone. Lisa first told me this and it sounded kind of sexy coming from her.
It’s dark by 6 now. The hound and I walked the Columbia. She will walk over ice to go in the water. Certainly that will change come snow in the valley bottom.
Fall is trying to hang on. It’s tough to say goodbye. To seasons and loved ones. A good bowl of soup can ease the pain. Winter is calling . . . I can feel it in my long underwear!
