Since the shifts have changed I woke up a few hours before I needed. 3 am without a hope of going back to sleep, so I headed for the bush. There was fog in the valley bottom. The old truck fallowed the road up the mountain. There still isn’t much snow. The going was easy. Easier than I can remember in years past. I stopped and snapped a picture looking back towards the valley. The clouds partly obscured the stars and reflected the valley lights. I recognized the twins of Gemini. The bush was quiet. The ground was ice. I watched my step. Before long it was time to head back down and go to work. It’s like anything good – you take it when you can get it.
