any day now

by underswansea

it s only lies
keeping me company
a trick of the wrist
mirrors tilted
watched in bed.

it s like he said
long ago
sometimes the
river flows
the wrong
and you have
to reconsider.

she was out of her clothes
standing by the window
in moonlight
the powerlines
cutting her
in half
i considered the top
then devoured
the bottom.

the past is slipping
by old bridges
the old faces
fading away
passing trains
along the shore
where i d
rather see
the sun
go down
than come up
another day.

it s only lies
the piano music
can’t take it away
nor the garden’s new
sprung growth.

it s only lies
keeping me company
while truth
falls further
