through the fog

wind creek

Haven’t seen a bit of the sky for two days. The fog rolled in about Wednesday. Usually it clears by noon. Cold air mixing with warm and the creeks not frozen. It’s been as thick as soup in the valley bottom. Climbed the backroads tonight looking for a way out of the din. About mile seven the sides of the road revealed themselves and the stars appeared. Just like that. I busted through for the first time in a long time (or at least since Wednesday). The stars never look the same. The heart of the Milky Way is over the Purcells. Sometimes I feel like chasing it, but I like my spot in the east. Orion is back for most of the night. It gives me another reason to stick around.
