Put a fire on first thing after getting up. It was chilly. There have been plenty of deer in the yard. Lisa pulled a large beet from the garden yesterday. It took about two hours of boiling, but tasted wonderful.
A few heavy frosts now and the trees are giving up their colour. Took to the creek bottom with the dogs. Saw a cow and calf moose chewing leaves. Headed towards the ridge.
The dogs are slowing. Perhaps they are caught between the seasons, lamenting winter. Slinky was happy spending most of the day beside the fire. It won’t be long now and I will have to find my long underwear.
